When working with plastics often want to identify what plastic has been used to manufacture a given product. This is essential to get an idea of \u200b\u200bthe properties of the product. The identification of plastics is usually complicated due to:

• the variety basic polymer can be used
• the large number of additives that can be used to modify the basic polymer properties
• the great variety of blends or composites of polymers that can be taken to obtain the desired properties

Despite this there are several simple tests that can be done to get an idea of \u200b\u200bthe basic polymer was used for the manufacture of a product. Here are the instructions for some of the tests we develop in class:
