On Sunday 23 January, walkers Montisonense Mountain Club went up to the Peña Oroel. Since the creation of Club, and tradition seemed to project this out every year and have it be canceled due to bad weather, but the third time's the charm, and on Sunday a group of forty walkers club could do summit.
Leaving by bus at 7:00 in the direction of Jaca, low temperatures were announced and the truth is that the note was cold and just as we waited for the bus around -9 ° C. ; Before reaching Sabiñánigo we stopped for breakfast a little and coordinate with other club members who came in their cars. And together we went to the starting point: the track the "the pardina of Ordolés" which comes to about 4 km after the port Oroel crown from Jaca. The plan was to do the online route, climbing the south side and down the north side, where we expect the bus. So with this idea we used to walk a little before 10:00. Although it was quite cold, the weather was clear and the sun and walking were warming up our bodies.
The first part of the tour goes along a track in some sections are steep enough ... Little by little we gain altitude and could see all the mountains that separated us from Guara y Gratal, hasta la zona donde se sitúan los Mallos de Riglos.
Poco después llegamos a la Ermita de la Virgen de la Cueva; construcción típica in many parts of the mountain which takes a hollow in the rock to build a wall and build a chapel. In this case is very well preserved, and is really great, with a small picnic area next to that we will use the days of pilgrimage.
So seize the place and good sun had to make a fueling stop. After this break, continue on the path to the hill of "Never", from where you see the cross that marks the peak of the mountain. Since the forest has disappeared and the trail passes between erizon with sweeping views in all directions.
From the top the panorama is first order. From the mountains of the valley to the Cotiella Zuriza and Turbón, the Pyrenees is opening before us. Below we Sabiñanigo, Jaca and Berdún Channel. And to the south a cluster of mountains that are the limit in the Sierra de Guara.
We would have liked to enjoy more of the top, but gradually the wind and cold are shooting and decided to resume the march, we turn our steps to the hill of "never", and here leave the road on the climb and take you down the north side. We enter into a closed forest pine (we say goodbye to the sun ...) and go down and without rest to the Parador de Oroel.
The bus is waiting, but we take a little longer to enjoy the mountain, we warmed up with some coffee at the inn, we took a bite, enjoy views of the north wall and look at the cross on top to the satisfaction of having enjoyed a good day in the mountains with a fantastic company.
